Worst Migraine ever :(

Karen:
I just wanted to report to you all that yesterday I experienced the worst migraine of my entire life of 42 years. I woke up as usual about 6:15am and had a really bad "regular" headache and at 9am I was so certain it was becomming a migraine and took a demerol and went to bed. Within a couple of minutes it was a full blown migraine and I just could not stop the pain....demerol was like candy to me, no effect at all.....ice bag helped a little but not as much as
usual. The difference with this migraine compared to anyother I ever had was that lying down just didnt give me any kind of relief. It lasted till 10pm last night. Once I felt it was better and I made the mistake of lifting my head to look back at the clock to see the time and that quickly it started pounding again. Another thing that was different, I could very easily have taken a pen and trace an outline on my head where the pain was! Usually it is the top of my head but it gradually subsides as it goes down my head....but yesterday it was the entire top of my head, the sides of my head, and my eyes. In all, I
took 3 demerol yesterday and I never took more than 1 or possibly 2 in a day before. I thought of going to the ER but quickly dispensed with that idea because there was no way I was getting in a car or going into a bright room with lots of noise AND with all the medicine I already had they surely couldnt have given me anything anyway.

Thanks for letting me complain! You guys are the only ones who honestly can fully understand the agony.

Michele:
Karen,
Hope you are feeling better today. I have had a few of those nasties in the last six months. My migraines are always on one side of my head. 9 out of 10 are on the left side. Sometimes it seems like that 1 out of 10 on the right is the kicker. The pain centers around my temple but hurts from the center of the top of my head around the back of my ear and to my neck on the one side. I have had two or three headaches in the last six months where the pain would switch sides in the middle of the headache. These were really bad migraines, but I found that strange. Has anyone else experienced this? I have never had pain behind my eyes associated with a migraine. I usually take 2 Demerol when I get bad, forget one 'cause it won't work. Have taken up to 4 for one 12 hour time frame.

Moly:
Mine isn't the worst ever but I sure have a doosey today! It feels like someone has jabbed something through my temple to my eye! Ouch!

Steve:
Hello,
I am new to this list. I am a 45 yo male. I have been getting 3-5 migraines a week lately. I am starting to do some research to get a handle on them. I hope to talk with all of you more as I get used to the group. I have some that start behind my right eye and switch to the left eye.The switch happens quickly.

Suzy:
It sounds terrible Karen. I hope you never have one that bad again (or any at all, as long as we are wishing).
